The University of Manchester aligns its social responsibility activity with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). A recently published societal impact ranking for universities worldwide placed the University 1st in Europe and 3rd in the world overall for contributing to the SDGs.
This shows Manchester is world-leading in this area and we want the global alumni community to join in. Our employee Miss Ruchita Mohatta led a group of alumni from the University of Manchester who spent a day clearing the shoreline of Mahim Beach as part of the Mahim Beaach Cleaup Initiative.
#MahimBeachCleanUp is a citizen movement which has helped initiate and clear more than 8,50,000 kgs of litter from the Mahim beach. Their efforts were felicitated by UN Environment in June 2018. This year, our manager Ruchita Mohatta of Orion Chem Pvt. Ltd and also an alumnus of the university of Manchester organized a movement with Mahim Beach Clean Up to combine it with the University’s third strategic goal: Social Responsibility in a beach clean up activity.
